WHAT WE'RE DOING NOW
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF OLDER PERSONS
The United Nations recognizes October 1 as International Day of Older Persons in an effort to bring attention to the challenges faced by the growing population of elderly citizens. The UN also uses it to recognize older human rights activists around the world. USC will have all-day events that day and will host activities, interactive workshops, and more. GeroTech SC will be involved in the activities and workshops that day.
TEACH-TECH WORKSHOPS
We want to empower seniors through technology. Throughout the year, we host intergenerational service workshops to teach elderly individuals how to use basic technologies and access important functions, such as emails or the news. We also teach seniors how to use basic mobile apps on their phones or iPads. This new initiative will focus on making technology more accessible to older adults to ensure them happier, healthier lives.
SPEAKER EVENTS
Throughout the year, GeroTech SC hosts various speaker events from the field of aging technology and other professionals in the field of gerontology and aging care. From USC faculty to entrepreneurs, these individuals share their knowledge and expertise in their field and offer students an accessible way to find out more about the area of aging technology.
